After one last early morning game drive, we departed from Sabi Sands/Kruger for Cape Town at 1000. We were packed into a van which hurtled at top speed down a washboard dirt road toward the airport. It was bone jarring, and we were relieved when we entered the tarmac highway. We queued up for our flight, barely getting checked in before boarding. After an uneventful 2 1/2 hour flight we arrived in Cape Town and headed for the lovely Vineyard Hotel. We were all struck by the contrast of the bustle of the city and even being back on an airplane with the basic existence of the bush. We slept well and today we are headed for a tour of the Cape of Good Hope. Weather is windy and possibly rainy but we are looking forward to seeing the South African penguins and other sights. More later.

Simply beautiful pictures from the air. It looks cold! Is it? It must be a culture shock to leave the game preserves for civilization. I know that I felt that way when we were visiting Kenya and Tanzania.
