We have arrived in Johannesburg!! 29 hours of travel later...... fairly uneventful. We each got a little sleep, emphasis on little but are feeling ok.

We had a most welcome coffee and croissant in the hotel lobby and have gotten access to  our lovely room early. What a gift. We plan to clean up a little and then head out to explore the Rosebank district surrounding the hotel.

It is surreal to believe are actually in South Africa. 

Johannesburg is South Africa's version of the city that never sleeps. Population is 4 and a half million people. There is always something happening here. The vibrancy is infectious and there is always a buzz. Johannesburg's history has become a massive part of its culture and as a result, a history of the city has worked its way into the tourist attractions. Johannesburg was a focal point during the uprisings and was often the center of attention during Apartheid.
