The Adventure begins

As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Stage 2, Triple Negative Breast Cancer almost exactly one year ago...late August 2017. With my head reeling, the treatment plan was developed and chemotherapy was set to begin mid September. Meanwhile, I was determined to keep my work schedule and commitment I had made, as best as possible. One of those was to spend a week at the (world famous) Elizabeth Wende Breast Center in Rochester, NY with my dear friend Touna Destounis, who is the Medical Director of the Center. After that I drove to my beloved nephew's (Carter) home to spend time with him and his wonderful wife Jes and their 2 daughters, Anastazia and Stella. I adore them all. On that Saturday, Jes and I went to the Albany Farmer's Market and ran into her former boss who had just returned from a safari in Africa. My interest was peaked as this was something I have always wanted to do. I was just not sure which guide or group to go with, She highly recommended the owner of Red Sun Safaris, Leslie Udwin and encouraged me to contact him..so I did. I liked Leslie's 'style' immediately and started to work with him on booking the next trip available: September 2018. I knew I wanted to take my daughter Erin, who shares my passion for wildlife and adventure, We would make this a celebratory trip to mark the end of my breast cancer treatment and cure. I immediately told Terry of our plans and she told Anita...and now the 4 of us are going together!
This will be a trip of a lifetime and I am so happy to share this experience with 3 very special people, who (among countless others) have always supported, loved and encouraged me... but especially during the past year.  I am so lucky to be cancer free!
I truly hope you will enjoy reading this Blog. All 4 of us will be sharing photos and thoughts along the amazing journey we are about to take.
Love Louise
